The Swiss bank is poaching a long-standing UBS banker and asset management strategist. She is to oversee business with Credit Suisse's affluent clients in Germany and Austria.

The Swiss bank is hiring Iris Eberhard as head of Germany and Austria for its private banking international push, effective immediately, a source familiar with her hire told finews.com. Eberhard spent the last nine years at UBS, most recently as head of asset management strategy and head of products and strategic partnerships in the unit.

Private banking international is a four-year-old unit for affluent clients Credit Suisse is expanding under Raffael Gasser, to whom Eberhard will report. A spokeswoman for Credit Suisse confirmed her hire.

Battle-Tested At UBS

Gasser has defined five areas to expand: Germany and Austria now under Eberhard; Credit Suisse's activities in Luxembourg; emerging markets; southern Europe and Latin America; and western and northern Europe.

Eberhard, who joins in the rank of managing director, is battle-tested: she was chief of staff for asset management head Ulrich Koerner until 2016. She is among several high-profile women at Credit Suisse's private bank, including Andreea Grob, a strategic client partner, and northern European boss Emma Crystal.
