The digital wealth manager is taking outside money for the first time. It is also bolstering its board with a prominent investor.

Descartes Finance wrapped a funding round with several noteworthy investors, it said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. The Zurich-based digital wealth manager didn't disclose the amount it raised, which it will put towards its growth efforts.

Swiss venture capital investor Spicehaus Partners is the lead investor, and Eric Gisiger, the former managing partner of Helvetica Capital as well as founding member of Credit Suisse Entrepreneur Capital AG, also invested. Gisiger, who is backing Descartes as a private investor, will join the start-up's board.

Descartes also said Rino Borini, a well-known digital expert and lecturer, will preside its board. Borini had until now been an ordinary director.
