The online bank said clients will be able to trade 21 cryptocurrencies through its platform by the end of this month.

Gland, Switzerland-based Swissquote is adding cryptocurrencies Cardano, Filecoin, Maker, Uniswap, and yearn.finance to its offering, effective immediately, and plans to add Aave, Algorand, Compound, and Cosmos by the end of this month, it said in a statement on Wednesday. Demand from clients as well as liquidity available for trading drove the selection, it said.

Swissquote's custody of cryptocurrency stands at at 1.8 billion Swiss francs ($1.97 billion) and trading has become an important generator of revenue. It began offering crypto to private clients four years ago and has successively bolstered the offering.

Its European bank was among the first banks in the eurozone to make cryptocurrency trading available to its clients. Swissquote said it is also expanding its offering for institutions eager to get into cryptocurrencies and looking for a custodian bank.
