Sygnum nabbed the deputy CEO of fintech Creditgate24 as its new legal boss.

The Zurich-based crypto lender is naming Stephan Zimmermann as its head of legal, effective immediately, according to a post on Zimmermann's LinkedIn. Most recently general counsel and deputy CEO at Creditgate24, he replaces Sygnum compliance chief Maria-Antonella Bino, who defected for the top legal job at Vontobel last month.

Before Creditgate24, Zimmermann was a lawyer at UBS for structured and syndicated finance and and counsel to Cembra, a consumer lender. He holds a masters in law from the University of Lucerne.

Crypto players like Sygnum may be heading into a far harsher capital regime than they thus far have enjoyed in Switzerland’s overseer: International regulators are proposing a risk-weighting of 1,250 percent against bitcoin and other digital assets on its books, as finews.com reported three weeks ago.
