Former Swiss deputy attorney general Maria-Antonella Bino is to take over as Vontobel’s top lawyer, transferring from another bank.

Former Swiss deputy attorney general Maria-Antonella Bino will join Vontobel as general counsel, the bank said in a statement on Wednesday. She will join the Zurich-based bank from Swiss cryptocurrency bank Sygnum, where she held a similar position.

Bino will become the group’s global head of legal and compliance as well as a member of the executive committees of both the group and Bank Vontobel. Before working for Sygnum, she was the top lawyer at BNP Paribas (Suisse) in Geneva.

At the beginning of the year Bino was discussed as a possible successor to Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber, who resigned after a court ruled he covered up a meeting with FIFA head Gianni Infantino and lied to supervisors while his office investigated corruption at soccer's governing body.
