Citi has appointed one of its veteran bankers to head up its Swiss unit.

Marni McManus (pictured below) will take over as Citi Country Officer Switzerland, Monaco and Liechtenstein, on January 1, 2022, the U.S. bank said Wednesday.

She will report to Kristine Braden, head of the Europe Cluster, and will be based in Geneva. The Europe Cluster consists of 21 countries including Switzerland.

McManus succeeds Elzbieta Czetwertynska, who was recently appointed as CCO Poland and President of the Management Board of Citi Handlowy, pending regulatory approval.

In the press release Citi said Switzerland was a strategically important market for the bank.

McManus has more than 21 years of experience. She is currently global head of healthcare corporate banking, based in New York.

She joined Citi in 2000 and worked in treasury and trade solutions, capital markets origination, and institutional recovery management before joining the banking team. She initially covered U.S. homebuilders and consumer product companies before heading the healthcare corporate banking team in 2014.

The bank said Phil Hooper would remain as interim CCO Switzerland, Monaco and Liechtenstein until McManus started in January.
