Project Diem is losing one of its creators. The Swiss technologist led the cryptocurrency project which pulled out of Switzerland this year.
Board member David Marcus is leaving Meta, formerly known as Facebook, at the end of the year, he said on his LinkedIn account and Twitter.

He is the co-creator of Diem and head of Meta’s fintech unit Novi. The Swiss native is leaving the company to have more free time before he starts «building something new and exciting again,» he says.
Marcus worked at the company for over seven years. The Facebook-backed currency withdrew plans for a Swiss license in May, saying it wanted to focus on the U.S. market.
