The Swiss insurer, best known for its life insurance, is adding wealth management services for private individuals to its offering.

Swiss Life is providing private individuals financial advisory services, effective immediately, it said in a statement Monday.

With Swiss Life Wealth Managers, the insurer will offer advice on financial planning, taxes and retirement to private clients from its offices in Zurich’s banking district. Further locations in Switzerland - starting with Winterthur - will follow, it said.

«We see an increasing need for comprehensive advice and tailored investment opportunities in the growing affluent market segment. Swiss Life Wealth Managers helps private individuals tailor their financial planning to their individual needs,» CEO Swiss Life Switzerland Markus Leibundgut, said.

The push into the affluent market should support the insurer in meeting its goal of increasing assets under management for private clients in its home market to over 6.5 billion Swiss francs ($6.7 billion) by 2024, according to the statement.
