Last summer, Swiss Cembra Money Bank restructured its management board. Now an interim position is being filled permanently.

Cembra Bank is appointing Christian Schmitt as chief technology officer and member of its management board, effective next month it said in a statement Tuesday. 

Schmitt has been in this position on an interim basis, where he is responsible for the technical implementation of the strategy and reports to CEO Holger Laubenthal

Digitization & Simplification

Last year the bank realigned its strategy and is now aiming to simplify its operating model and create a modern technology landscape to improve the customer experience.

«As digitalization increases, the needs and expectations of our customers are changing. (...) Christian Schmitt is the perfect person to implement the associated programs in the areas of digitalization and technology (...),» Laubenthal said.

Previously, Schmitt was responsible for clients and EMEA markets at the technology and legal services company UnitedLex. Prior to this, he worked for 12 years at PwC Switzerland.
