Migros Bank has recruited a proven compliance expert to join its Board of Directors.

Ursula La Roche joins the Board of Directors of Migros Bank retroactively as of January 1, the banking subsidiary of Swiss retail giant Migros announced Tuesday. She succeeds Peter Meier, who is stepping down from the board due to age-limit restrictions.

La Roche was the head of internal audit at reinsurer Swiss Re since 2021, having previously worked at UBS, most recently as operational head (COO) of the Compliance, Regulatory & Governance unit at the group level. There she was temporarily head of group investigations, a kind of top detective for internal cases.

Other professional stops include the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma), stock exchange operator SIX, and Credit Suisse.

With the election of La Roche, the board of directors of Migros Bank as of January 1, is composed of the following:

  • President Fabrice Zumbrunnen (Chairman)
  • Isabelle Zimmermann (Vice President)
  • Isabel Stirnimann Schaller
  • Bernhard Kobler
  • Michael Hobmeier
  • Ursula La Roche

Chairman Fabrice Zumbrunnen will be replaced following his announced departure as head of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (MGB).
