A generational change is taking place at Migros Bank, where a newcomer is taking over from a retiring veteran in the private banking business.

Thomas Friedli is taking over as head of the Private Clients division of Migros Bank in northwestern Switzerland, succeeding 16 year veteran Guido Holzherr, who is taking a voluntary early retirement, the bank announced Monday.

Friedli joined Migros Bank in the summer of 2021, and and served as the co-head of  its «Training Lab» which coached sales executives. Prior to that he was at Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank (BLKB) for ten years, most recently as head of marketing. He will take on his new role in mid-June and report to Markus Schawalder, head of the overall private clients business.

Schawalder joined the management team led by CEO Manuel Kunzelmann last year. Like Friedli, Kunzelmann also comes from BLKB were he was on the management team before his joining Migros Bank in 2020.
