Belvédère Asset Management, a subsidiary of independent asset manager Fundamenta Group, is expanding its board of directors.

Martin Scholl, the former CEO of Zuercher Kantonalbank (ZKB), has joined the board of an independent Swiss asset manager, subject to regulatory approval. With his election, the board of directors strengthens its expertise in asset and wealth management, according to a media release on Tuesday.

Wealth of Experience

Scholl looks back on a career of more than 40 years in the financial industry. He was CEO of ZKB for the last 15 years. Under his leadership, its management business was expanded and he oversaw the acquisition and integration of Swisscanto.

David Garcia, the founder and board member of Fundamenta Group, said the addition of Scholl combines «Swiss values with proven skills, competencies, and enormous experience,» and will contribute significantly to the strategic development of Belvédère.

Garcia was also newly elected to the board of directors along with Urs Gauch who takes over the chairmanship of Belvédère Asset Management from Florian Marxer, who will move to the Fundamenta Group board of directors at the annual general meeting in May.

The Belvédère board will be composed of Rolf Boegli, David Garcia, Urs Gauch, Martin Landolt, and Martin Scholl, subject to the approval of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma).
