Alpian's CEO is leaving before the bank has reached break-even.

CEO Schuyler Weiss is resigning from online bank Alpian, which he co-founded, the bank said in an emailed statement Tuesday.

Weiss is moving to the US to take on a position in the public sector, while deputy CEO Gianmarco Bonaita, is set to step into the CEO position, the statement said.

No Timeline

In a recent finews.tv interview, Weiss did not give a timeline for when the company would become profitable, but indicated it would be in the next few years.

Geneva-based Alpian was spun out of Bank Reyl five years ago. It received a Swiss banking license in 2022 and now has a workforce of 100 employees.

The bank is targeting digital-savvy affluent clients with between 100,000 francs to 1 million francs of investable assets.
