Banque Richelieu Appoints New CEO And Plans Expansion Into Geneva

Banque Richelieu Switzerland is repositioning itself for the next phase of growth. Richard Albrecht is taking over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Swiss bank. The appointment remains subject to approval by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, Finma.

Albrecht is expected in particular to further develop the existing business in Zurich while at the same time building a presence in Geneva. He is also tasked with strengthening the teams and the wealth management business and intensifying cooperation with the other units of Groupe Banque Richelieu.

From 11 to 15 Billion Euros

The personnel move is part of a broader growth strategy. Groupe Banque Richelieu managed more than 11 billion euros at the end of June 2026. Over the next three years, that figure is expected to rise to 15 billion euros.

That would represent targeted growth of more than one-third. The goal is to be achieved through organic growth on the one hand and selected external growth opportunities in core markets on the other.

The group is active in wealth management, investment banking and asset management. Its entities include Banque Richelieu France, Banque Richelieu Monaco, Richelieu Corporate Finance, Richelieu Invest, Banque Richelieu Switzerland and Banque Richelieu GCC in Abu Dhabi. In total, the group employs around 230 people.

Almost 30 Years of Banking Experience

With Albrecht, Richelieu is bringing in a manager with many years of experience in Swiss private banking. The business graduate began his career at UBS and Lombard Odier.

Over the past 15 years, he was first responsible for the Swiss market at Deutsche Bank and then for BNP Paribas in Geneva. In 2023, he moved to REYL Intesa Sanpaolo as Head of Wealth Management. Overall, he has almost 30 years of experience in banking and wealth management.

“Zurich And Geneva Are Strategically Important Markets”

Albrecht sees further potential, especially in Switzerland’s two major financial centres. “Zurich and Geneva are strategically important markets for our ambitions and offer considerable growth potential,” he says.

Together with Deputy CEO Gian Nay and the existing teams, he wants to sustainably expand Banque Richelieu Switzerland.

Sylvain Fondeur, Managing Director of Compagnie Financière Richelieu, describes the appointment as “a new stage” for the Swiss business. Albrecht’s knowledge of the Swiss market and his experience in wealth management are expected to help implement the growth strategy.
