The former Julius Baer manager had left GAM asset management unexpectedly a year ago. Now he's back – at his previous employer, according to research by finews.ch.

Michele Porro left GAM, the Swiss asset manager, abruptly in June 2015. He held the position of region head continental Europe and was a member of the group management board.

Porro has now taken over the position as head distribution at Julius Baer in Switzerland. A spokesman for the Zurich-based bank confirmed the information.

Teaming Up With Rickenbacher

The manager will take charge of the investment advisory, investment consulting and sales management. The distribution unit is essentially the interface between the product and service divisions of the banks, as well as with the relationship managers.

Porro will report to Philipp Rickenbacher, the new head of advisory solutions. Porro joined Swiss & Global Asset Management (the former Julius Baer Asset Management) in 2008. He was made member of the executive board and head of sales and distribution the following year.

Previously, he had been in charge of private label solutions and global custody services. Swiss & Global Asset Management was later integrated into GAM.
