HSBC is giving it a go in Switzerland: the bank has hired a string of top shots as it bids to give its Swiss private-banking business a boost.

HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) appointed former UBS-man Theo Aeschlimann as head of the Entrepreneurs & Executives unit, with Malcolm Dastur and Yves Tschui (ex-Credit Suisse) joining as senior relationship managers, the company said in a statement today. The bank aims to add another senior relationship manager in Geneva in coming weeks.

Services for Multi-Family-Offices

Not enough with the expansion of its team catering to Swiss-based customers: HSBC also strengthens the multi-family-office business. It has hired Alexander Sabo (ex-J.P. Morgan) as market head and Pieter Strobos (ex-Sarasin) and David Veit (ex-Credit Suisse) as senior relationship managers.

The new head investment counsellor for multi-family-offices and Swiss-based customers will be Giovanni Miccoli, an ex-Aquila manager.

Growth Plans

HSBC wants to further grow its business in Switzerland and plans further, targeted recruitment, according to Roger Lehmann, member of the executive board at HSBC Switzerland. The bank is an attractive partner for multi-family-offices because of its resources and strong international presence, he added.

The U.K.-based bank also plans to specialize in banking with rich clients as well as entrepreneurs and members of the executive at multinational companies based in Switzerland. With a substantial share of the assets typically invested in one company – their employer – these customers are in need of specific and individual solutions.
