The Geneva-based private bank is appointing a former Barclays banker to look after an important market, where it plans to grow.

Lombard Odier is appointing Amit Ben Sira as market head for Israel, effective June 1, it said in a statement Wednesday. Amit Ben Sira joins from Barclays Private Bank where he headed the Zurich office, according to his LinkedIn profile. Previous career stations include Credit Suisse and Citibank.

Ben Sira replaces Antonio Perez, who will focus on his role as a senior advisor for customer contacts. Last year, former Credit Suisse banker Nir Yeshaya also briefly stepped in to head the office as finews.com reported. Ben Sira will report to Stephen Kamp head of Southern Europe & Latin America for private clients.

Tech Boom in Israel

Israeli technological developments continue to boost the local economy and bring wealth to many entrepreneurs, making it a «core market» for Lombard Odier.

«With his extensive experience in private banking and his leadership expertise, we are convinced Amit will play a critical role in driving growth and delivering exceptional value to the strategic Israeli market,» Kamp said in the statement.
