Zurich-based Vontobel is giving some of its wealthiest clients access to private markets through a collaboration with Portfolio Advisors.

Starting next month Vontobel is offering private market investments to some of its wealth management clients, giving them the chance to branch into an exclusive asset class, by investing in a fund that employs multiple investing strategies, the company announced Wednesday. It's Vontobel's first cooperation agreement with an international private markets specialist.

«Private markets investments can be an attractive longer-term addition to large, sophisticated portfolios in particular,» said Vontobel's head of investments Christel Rendu de Lint.

Partnering with Portfolio Advisors

Portfolio Advisors, a global private asset manager specializing in the US middle market, has been selected as the partner. It offers a range of investments in private equity, private credit, and private real estate assets, and works with pension funds from its offices in Zurich, London, Dallas, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

In June, it completed its merger with alternative investment specialist FS Investments and managed $75 billion of assets at the end of that month.

A First Step Into Private Markets

«Our collaboration with Portfolio Advisors is the first step we're taking in the implementation of our private markets strategy for selected wealth management clients at Vontobel. Investors are looking for ways to invest in private markets. Our clients can participate in developments in this special asset class through a multi-strategy fund that is tailored to their needs,» said Georg Schubiger, head of Wealth Management at Vontobel.
