He was a banker and then became a pioneer in fintech in Switzerland. Now, Marc Lussy has taken on a role at a leading Chinese university.
Marc Lussy is an adjunct expert at the Zhejiang University International Business School in Haining (Zhejiang Province), which he has announced on his LinkedIn account. Zhejiang University is among the top three universities in China. It includes a global business school focused on entrepreneurial exchange, with key areas in fintech, digital transformation, marketing, and innovation management. About 45 percent of the students are from outside China.
Lussy's career began at UBS
He started in the financial sector as a Sales Manager for Traded Options and Futures at UBS, later served as Project & Product Manager in Private Banking at Credit Suisse, and as Senior Product Manager for investment products at Graubünden Cantonal Bank. Since 2015, he has been Head of Business Development for the German-speaking region at Performance Watcher, a company that offers performance comparisons for individual client portfolios.

At the Zhejiang University International Business School, Lussy offers a mini-incubator program for students, a course on building networks in international environments, and bilateral career consulting. He also participates on panels and meetings and supports topics like leadership, innovation, and specifically, startup innovation.
Zurich Forum Opened Doors for Him
Lussy has long been fascinated by China. «The way the entire client journey is depicted in all aspects is quite impressive; that is embedded finance at its best,» he says.
Through Chinese partners, Lussy has started building a business in recent years to bring wealthy Chinese from the Hangzhou region to Switzerland, focusing primarily on health treatment and longevity. As an advisor and mentor to Chinese fintech startups with Swiss ties, he has gained deep insights into the Chinese fintech market.

Lussy made contact with the leadership of the University International Business School through organizing the «Two Lakes Forum» in Zurich. In the past, this event focused on fintech and wealth management, attracting senior representatives of the Hangzhou government. «This is how I met key decision-makers, including the rector of Zhejiang University International Business School,» he says.
Commitment to Another University on the Horizon
Lussy is continuing his previous activities; he has a mandate in China for about fifty hours. Originally, this engagement was supposed to be limited. However, it now appears otherwise. «The plan, however, is that I will be in Hangzhou or on the university campus in Haining, close to Hangzhou, twice a year,» he says. Moreover, a similar commitment in another region is already emerging. «The Chinese are very eager to learn; it's impressive,» he says.
