Julius Baer concluded the reshuffle at the top of its German unit. The bank’s female COO has taken on more duties.

Ursula Egli is taking over responsibility for finance, compliance and controlling at Julius Baer Europe, the company said in a statement today. She already is in charge of operations at the unit, which also takes care of the booking of EU clients.

Egli, a Swiss citizen, joined Julius Baer in 2015. She had worked for Bank Leumi, which had been taken over by Julius Baer a year earlier.

Turnaround Story

The reshuffle among the top echelon of Julius Baer in Germany has now been concluded, the company said. Gerhard Grebe, who had been a member of the management board since 1999, retired at the end of 2017. CEO Heiko Schlag by contrast has remained in place.

Schlag and Egli will have their work cut out for them. The unit posted another loss in 2016, which the owners in Switzerland came up for. The company recently expanded the German business significantly, which will now have to deliver profits.
