The former UBS trader was flown to his native African nation after his long fight against deportation was brought to a close.

Kweku Adoboli, the man behind a billion-franc-trading-loss of UBS, was put on a flight to Ghana on Wednesday evening, «The Guardian» newspaper reported. Adoboli had been arrested on Monday in Glasgow and sent to a detention center in London pending extradition.

U.K. law stipulates that foreign nationals who have been sentenced to prison terms in excess of four years have to return to their home countries unless there are exceptional circumstances. Adoboli, who left Ghana as a four-year-old claimed such exceptional circumstances. Those claims were rejected by the courts.

Adoboli in 2012 was convicted to seven years in prison after being found guilty of fraud that cost Switzerland's largest bank $2.3 billion. He was released after serving half his sentence, «The Guardian» said.
