VP Bank is poaching a team of bankers from rival Julius Baer, finews.com has learned. The move is part of the Liechtenstein-based bank's expansion in Switzerland.

Vaduz-based VP is hiring Peter Vangehr as head of intermediaries in Switzerland, a source familiar with the move told finews.com. Vangehr will oversee three teams of bankers targeting Swiss financial intermediaries.

He spent nearly 12 years at Julius Baer, most recently as a senior adviser. Vangehr, who will report to the VP Swiss CEO Antony Lassanianos, is taking three other Julius Baer intermediary bankers with him to VP.

Before Julius Baer, Vangehr worked for Clariden Leu for seven years. The four hires underscores the Liechtenstein bank's growth ambitions, and furthers its relationship manager hiring program, VP said.
