The Swiss wealth manager is moving one of its best-known European bankers into a new job.

UBS is giving Mara Harvey responsibility for a new area dubbed client services, according to a memo seen by finews.com. This includes areas such as advising families on art and philanthropy as well as overseeing client networks, communities, and so-called VIP services.

A 20-year UBS veteran, Harvey is one of the Swiss bank's best-known private bankers and one of its top female executives. The appointment comes two months after she emerged as a vice-chair in the unit following a January shuffle, which reorganized her former job running UBS' ultra-rich business in Germany, Italy, and Austria.

Michael Viana, who currently runs the teams Harvey is taking over, will focus on family office client services. Harvey will report to Christian Zeinler, who is head of strategy and business development for the unit and serves as chief of staff to the firm's top private banker outside the U.S., Iqbal Khan

«Mara Harvey's extensive experience, both in front-facing client roles and in business development, positions her well to lead this expanded team and bring our client offering to the next level,» UBS' top banker to the super-rich Josef «Joe» Stadler and Zeinler said in the memo.

Her new job includes oversight of the private bank's event governance and as well as events teams outside the U.S., which are run by Tobias Faes. Faes will report to Zeinler and to Harvey.

UBS confirmed her appointment, which was first reported earlier on Tuesday by Swiss banking blog «Inside Paradeplatz» (in German). Harvey, who was protegéed by former unit head Juerg Zeltner, ran a wealth project for women until two years ago, when UBS disbanded it. She is also the author of a series of children's books about financial literacy.
