Silex is hiring the former chief technologist of derivatives boutique Leonteq. It is the second notable hire for the Swiss-French fintech this year.

The start-up is hiring Alexis de Bernis as its chief technology officer, effective immediately, it said in an emailed statement on Wednesday. The 39-year-old French native spent seven years at derivatives boutique Leonteq including as head of information technology development, and most recently nine months as the deputy head of technology at Numbrs, a Swiss start-up.

De Bernis, who will report to CEO Xavier Laborde, is to foster the development of Spark, a technology platform built by Silex which helps portfolio managers with asset allocation. He will be based in Geneva.

Silex in April hired Adrian Steinherr, the former head of derivatives at UBS for Switzerland, in a bid to attack the Swiss market. Silex develops asset management algorithms, helps independent asset managers implement technology, and also manages assets in so-called quantamental strategies, a combination of quantitative and fundamental investing.
