GAM said it is poaching a head of institutional clients from rival asset manager Jupiter.

The Zurich-based fund house is hiring Jill Barber as its head of institutional solutions, effective November 1, it said in a statement on Tuesday. Barber has been London-based Jupiter Asset Management's head of institutional clients for the last three years.

GAM is creating the role for Barber, who will be responsible for strengthening its proposition for institutions. She will partner with Jeremy Roberts, who joined GAM this month as head of distribution.

Recovery Bid

Both Roberts and new GAM CEO Peter Sanderson are former Blackrock executives. Sanderson is attempting to resurrect GAM after its handling of a whistleblower more than two years ago massively damaged its business

Before Jupiter, Barber was head of U.K. and Irish institutional clients at Franklin Templeton and previously worked for Hermes and Fidelity Worldwide. Her hire as well as that of Roberts follow top management exits including investment chief Matthew Beesley and distribution head Tim Rainsford.
