An ex-UBS and Credit Suisse banker is taking over as chair of the Swiss crypto bank following the surprise exit of Andreas Amschwand. Seba's board is also undergoing several other changes.

Paivi Rekonen will preside over the board of Seba, effective immediately, the Zug-based crypto bank said in a statement. She replaces Andreas Amschwand, who left abruptly two months ago following a strategy clash.

Rekonen is a former managing director of both Credit Suisse and UBS who has also worked for Cisco and Adecco. The Finnish banker has big tech experience as well as technology transformation and digitization experience in finance.

Three Board Exits

Seba also said Erich Ettlin and Urs Zulauf are leaving its board immediately, and that Reto Kunz will leave at year-end. Hans Kuhn (pictured below) and Sanjeev Karkhanis are joining, it said.

Kuhn is a Swiss lawyer who was previously chief counsel at Switzerland's central bank. More recently, he has specialized in blockchain law; he joins Seba immediately. Karkhanis, a financial risk manager who previously worked as a group managing director in UBS' wealth management arm, will join Seba's board on January 1.
