Zurich-based securitization start-up Gentwo has appointed one of Switzerland's most renowned experts in financial technology to broaden the range of expertise on its advisory board.

Spiros Margaris has been labeled a guru to the growing fintech community in Switzerland. Gentwo, a firm based in Zurich, on Thursday announced his appointment to the advisory board, joining amongst others Beat Hodel, the ex-chief risk officer of Raiffeisen Group. Gentwo, which was founded in 2018, is specializing in the securitization of financial-market products.

Margaris was named the most important fintech influencer by Reuters-unit Refinitiv in 2020. He is the first and only influencer to get a «Triple Crown», the label awarded by Onalytica to the most relevant influencers in fintech, artificial intelligence and blockchain. Margaris acquired an MBA from the University of Toronto and an EMBA from St. Gallen. He had founded his own fintech at the turn of the century.

Ex-Banker in Fintech

After ten years in finance – including stints at Credit Suisse (assistant vice president) and UBS (director) – he went into consultanting and, most notably, into the fintech industry.

Margaris will help Gentwo with its internationalization and scaling initiatives, the company wrote. «I only involve myself in young business models that have already proven themselves but at the same time have further interesting growth potential,» Margaris said.
