This Baar gastropub’s locally-produced burgers are available for lunch as well as dinner take-out Tuesday to Friday, Saturday night dinner pick-up until 8 p.m. as well.

Cheers offers a choice of patty (beef, vegetarian, chicken, or roesti) and extras like cheese, bacon, egg, and jalapeno. In honor of Zug's carnival – canceled due to the pandemic – Cheers will serve its burgers on colored buns next week.

Home of the «fondue taxi» (cheese- or meat-based), the hotel’s kitchen has a lot more to offer for lunch as well as dinner.

The Parkhotel’s «small» menu includes classics like Viennese schnitzel with vegetables, lemon, and lingonberries (50 francs) or duck breast in hoisin with dim sum, pak choi, pickled coriander root, and spicy sabo noodles (42 francs). Take-out or delivery.

The boutique hotel midway from Zurich to Zug is equally beloved by bankers from both cities – so much so that it merits a repeat mention: Hosts Monika Jans and Thomas Huber offer a vast «call and take home immediately» selection, like duck liver terrine (18.50 francs per 100 grams).

An extensive cocktail menu, as well as homemade pralines or local farm butter, round out the impeccable menu.

9. Brandenberg, Zug

The farm-style beer garden serves up a Friday lunch and dinner special: This week’s offering is pork cordon bleu (28.50 francs or beef tartar (31.50 francs or 19.50 for the small plate) as well as a good selection of wines at take-out prices.

The Hirschen delivers free in Aegeri village and, for a small fee, in the wider valley.

11. The Butcher, Zug

This Swiss chain sells reliably good-quality burgers for lunch and dinner daily out of its Metalli outlet. A bacon cheeseburger special – which includes a small order of friends and a bottle of Chopfab «draft» – is 25.80 francs.

Halloumi fries with Butcher’s sour cream and pomegranate (8.80 francs) or a pulled jackfruit burger with grilled pineapple, spicy BBQ sauce, romaine, tomato, red onion and pickles (17.80 francs) make vegetarians happy as well.
