Golding Capital Partners, a Germany-based  asset manager specializing in alternative investments, has  opened a branch in Zurich headed up by a former BNP Paribas and UBS banker.

Asset manager Golding Capital Partners is expanding into Switzerland, the company said in a statement.

Beat Fruehauf has been heading up the new office in Zurich since the beginning of August. As managing director, head of Switzerland, he will look after professional investors.

Golding Capital Partners provides professional investors with private market investments and focuses on private debt, infrastructure and private equity in Germany with assets under management of more than 11 billion euros ($12.9 billion).

The statement added that Golding is setting up a separate impact investing division.

The company employs 130 people in Munich, Luxembourg, London, New York, Tokyo and now in Zurich.

Massive Swiss Demand

«We are scaling up our existing presence in Switzerland by opening our own office in Zurich to meet the tremendous demand, particularly for infrastructure and private debt,» founder and Managing Director Jeremy Golding said.

Fruehauf has over 21 years of experience in serving Swiss investors. Most recently, he was head of the THEAM Quant Fund Switzerland at BNP Paribas Switzerland and was responsible for managing all customer segments and the sales team.

Before that, he was Head of iShares for institutional clients at Blackrock Asset Management Switzerland.

Varied Career

Further professional positions included 14 years at UBS Investment Bank in Zurich in sales of derivatives and structured products as well as in sales of Swiss stocks for pension funds, family offices and banks.

Fruehauf also worked in the audit department at PwC in Zurich for another three years.
