The Swiss asset manager is hiring a client man for the French-speaking Swiss market, from rival Edmond de Rothschild.

Zurich-based GAM is hiring Christian Lorenz as a client director for the institutional market in French-speaking Switzerland, it said in an emailed statement on Monday. Lorenz is a 27-year veteran of Edmond de Rothschild, where he has spent the past five years as head of sales in German-speaking Europe.

He will remain based in Geneva and report to Daniel Durrer, who oversees GAM's institution and fund distribution in Europe. Lorenz's experience translates to a growth mandate for GAM, according to the statement.

GAM is struggling to retrench more than three years after its entanglement with Greensill surfaced publicly. CEO Peter Sanderson has ordered dramatic spending cuts, folded a systematic trading acquisition from 2016 into its business and, most recently, shutting a Lugano office.
