After the abrupt departure of its private banking head in the region, the bank has found a Credit Suisse veteran to run its business in Spain and Portugal.

Credit Suisse is appointing Pablo Carrasco as its head of wealth management Iberia effective immediately, according to an emailed statement Wednesday.

Carrasco, who has been with the bank for 15 years, steps into his new position after heading the family office and institutional clients group in Europe.

Based in Madrid, Carrasco will report to Robert Cielen who heads wealth management in Europe.

Carrasco succeeds Concepción Gómez de Liaño, who filled the role on an interim basis following the departure of Iñigo Martos in December. Martos was in the role for less than a year.
