After some notable departures in recent years, Switzerland's main banking association is joined by a prepaid services bank and the Geneva branch of a Spanish bank. 

Swiss Bankers Prepaid Services AG and Abanca Corporacion Bancaria S.A. are the newest members of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA), having been approved in April by the board of directors, the SBA announced on Thursday.

The SBA Board of Directors approved the admission of the two institutions in April.  with SBA ECO Joerg Gasser saying «We are delighted to welcome two more institutions to our ranks. They will further strengthen our expertise as we work to secure the future of the financial center»

Swiss Bankers provides international financial services with locations in the cantons of Bern and Zurich as well as in Lichtenstein. The company, founded in 1975, was first known for its traveler's checks business, and now offers cashless payment solutions. 

Abanca Corporacion Bancaria S.A. is a Geneva-based branch of a Spanish company of the same name and has an office in Zurich. The Swiss business is active in savings services and financing, mainly for private mortgage loans, according to the statement.

In recent years the SBA has seen some notable members leaving the organization. Basel-based WIR Bank left last year preceded by Raiffeisen Bank, Switzerland's third-largest banking group.
