UBS is hiring a former Santander banker as a strategy guru for its Swiss retail and corporate banking arm, finews.com has learned. The banker is a digitization veteran.

The Zurich-based bank is hiring Victor Campos as head of strategy and business development in personal and corporate banking in Switzerland, according to a memorandum seen by finews.com on Tuesday.

The banker is a seven-year veteran of Santander, where he held several roles overseeing digital strategy and business development in Madrid and London. Most recently, he worked at Visa in Europe as head of acquiring. A spokeswoman for UBS confirmed the contents of the memo.

Management Role

Campos, who joins UBS on February 18, will also reinforce the unit's operating management committee. «He has specialist know-how and experience within the space of innovation and digitization and is therefore well equipped to drive our strategy for personal and corporate and region Switzerland and to develop our strategic priorities», Karin Oertli and Michael Bonacker wrote.

Oertli is joint operating chief of UBS' retail and corporate arm in Switzerland, while Bonacker is head of corporate development and performance. The two thanked André Silla, who led strategy and business development temporarily. Silla returns to his job as head of business consulting in Switzerland.
