Zwei Wealth is planning a hiring spree this year and an expansion of its platform. It is naming a former UBS private banker to lead the latter.

The Zurich-based robo advisor is naming Pascal Frei to partner, effective immediately it said in a statement on Thursday. Frei is to oversee platform development for Zwei Wealth, founded by ex-UBS chief economist Klaus Wellershoff and Patrick Mueller in 2014.

Frei spent the last year in overseeing business development for Altoo, a fintech sprung from a failed digital banking project, Flynt, launched by Leonteq co-founder Jan Schoch. Prior to that, Frei spent 12 years as a private banker for UBS, most recently as its top wealth manager in Zug and Schwyz, two tax-friendly havens outside Zurich.

Zwei Wealth said it wants to hire as many as 20 advisors this year in an expansion push, as well as foster the growth of its platform model. Frei is the right person for the latter, CEO Mueller, said, because he combines wealth management experience with «Silicon Valley thinking».
