Changing of the Guard at Migros Bank

Migros Bank is getting a new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Clemens Eckert will succeed Stephan Wick, who is retiring after 22 years with the bank. Eckert will take up his new role on 1 December and, according to a statement issued on Wednesday, will also join the Executive Board «during the first quarter of 2027».

Eckert spent the past eleven years at Swisscom Banking, where he had been a member of the management team since 2016 and most recently headed the Banking Solutions unit. In this role, he and his team supported more than 100 banks with key processes, IT systems and banking platforms. Prior to joining Swisscom, he served as COO of Centrum Bank (Switzerland) and as a Senior Consultant at Credit Suisse and Accenture.

Experienced Banking Executive

Manuel Kunzelmann, CEO of Migros Bank, commented: «With Clemens Eckert, we have gained an experienced executive and a proven IT and operations expert. His many years of experience in the banking sector, particularly in operational excellence, process optimisation, IT solutions and banking platforms, will make an important contribution to strengthening our operational capabilities.»

The statement also pays extensive tribute to Wick’s long tenure at the bank. He introduced and further developed e-banking, centralised processes and modernised the core banking system. Under his leadership, the branch network was also restructured and evolved into a modern, digitally oriented branch model.
