A former manager at Credit Suisse is joining the executive committee of Berner Kantonalbank. He will take over as head of investment and major clients.

The board of Berner Kantonalbank (BEKB) appointed Andreas Schafer to its executive committee and head of the division investment and major clients, the cantonal bank said in a statement on Friday.

The appointment marks the bank’s strategy to bolster the synergies between the corporate and investment clients as well as entrepreneurs and to boost the positioning in its core business areas. Schafer will take the position of Armin Brun in December 2019. Brun had taken charge of the portfolio in addition to leading the bank as its CEO.

Two Decades Working for Credit Suisse

Schafer, 50, has more than 30 years of banking experience, with a majority spent in corporate clients, executives and entrepreneurs and private banking. He spent two decades at Credit Suisse in various positions in Switzerland and abroad.

Since 2012, Schafer had been in charge of the corporate clients business in Bern.
