One of Zurich's prettiest Art Nouveau showcases is emerging from a gentle refurbishment. Its new tenants include the Genevan wealth manager and a pop-up restaurant.

A two-year renovation of the «Leuenhof,» the 105-year-old bank building on Zurich's main thoroughfare, by feted urban architect Tilla Theus is nearing conclusion: Pictet is due to start moving some staff in as soon as this month, according to a statement (in German) from the property owner.

The Leuenhof, originally the headquarters of Bank Leu, a Swiss lender founded in the 18th century, is the setting for Boris Collardi's return to Bahnhofstrasse. The historical landmark is nose-to-nose with rival Julius Baer, which the Swiss star banker ran until defecting to Geneva more than three years ago.

Pop-Up Gourmets

The building, which belongs to property specialist Swiss Prime Anlagestiftung, will unify Pictet's Zurich staff in one office. The 800-square-meter bank lobby was restored and will house retail and event space, the owner said.

SPA said it had recently signed a long-term rent contract with a well-known luxury brand for part of the ground floor. Until February, Michelin-starred chefs Nenad Mlinarevic and Valentin Diem will operate a pop-up restaurant in the space.
