Experienced power and renewables dealmaker who was to start at Credit Suisse, is instead joining NextEra Energy.

In December of last year, Credit Suisse announced it was hiring Mike Dunne to head the global energy and renewables unit at the bank's investment banking division, but is instead joining NextEra Energy, according to a «Bloomberg» story (behind paywall).

He was scheduled to join this month and report to Rob Santangelo and Randy Bayless, who co-head the unit Dunne was to join.

Instead, he is joining the Florida-based utility owner NextEra Energy, Bloomberg said citing anonymous sources.

Dunne was at Bank of America since 2002, where he was a managing director in global energy and power, leading over $100 billion in merger and acquisition deals.

Returnee

Credit Suisse was able to lure back a former employee Vivek Manipadam, who was at Credit Suisse from 2015 until he left for Amazon in 2020. He returns as managing director of the technology team in the EMEA region, according to a «Business Insider» report (behind paywall).

Credit Suisse suffered a spate of departures in the aftermath of the Archegos and Greensill debacles. Since then the bank has gone to great lengths to replenish its ranks, with Manipadam one of 14 returnees to investment banking, some of whom were lured back with large bonuses, the article adds.
