Equity analyst Daniele Brupbacher is making a career leap at UBS, analyzing his employer alongside CEO Sergio Ermotti, finews.com has learned.

Daniele Brupbacher (pictured below) becomes chief strategy officer at the new UBS on July 1, according to an internal bank letter obtained by finews.com signed by CEO Sergio Ermotti. The letter states the long-standing banking analyst will take charge of strategy teams at the Group and division levels, reporting directly to Ermotti.

Entrusted with Projects

Ermotti recently said the integration of Credit Suisse is progressing very well, saying the decisive factor is a clear focus and alignment with the overall strategy which Brupbacher's appointment will ensure.

He's been at UBS for over two decades, including the last ten years as head of equity research in Switzerland at the Investment Bank. The memorandum highlights Brupbacher's services on the equity sell-side research. As a banking analyst, he's been a member of the top-ranked European research team in the banking sector, writing analyses on many of UBS's competitors, along with private banking and investment banking topics.

He's in regular contact with senior executives from all areas of the bank on strategic issues and led various strategy projects.

Star Analyst Reunion

Ermotti showed a penchant for banking connoisseurs during his first tenure at UBS, in 2019 appointing star analyst Huw van Steenis as head of investor relations, putting him in charge of financial communications for the entire bank.

Their paths are converging again at the new UBS. Van Steenis works for the strategy consultant Oliver Wyman, which Ermotti tapped to oversee the Credit Suisse integration.
