The German lender is entrusting its private banking activities in German-speaking Switzerland to a veteran of Goldman Sachs, finews.com has learned.

The Frankfurt-based bank is hiring Andreas Haeringer to run part of its wealth management arm in Switzerland, it said in an emailed statement on Monday. His appointment is effective immediately; he will report to Deutsche top executive Clemens Kaiser.

Haeringer joins Deutsche Bank amid a hiring spree intended to breath new life into its long-stagnant private banking activities, as finews.com reported. The wealth arm is overseen in Europe, the Middle East, and in Africa by Marco Pagliara, who was formerly general manager of the U.S. powerhouse’s Swiss bank.

Ultra-Rich Segment

Deutsche is looking to Haeringer to build its franchise with ultra-wealthy clients and family offices – a key focus for Pagliara. Besides Goldman where he worked as an investment specialist, Haeringer was previously with UBS, both in family office and in derivatives.

He spent the last three years at Delfin, a private, Zug-based fund manager. «He has the right background, capabilities and mind-set which we require to further expand our coverage of ultra- and high net worth families and individuals,» Pagliara said.
