A well-known Zurich banquier privé and long-standing board member of Edmond de Rothschild has passed away.

François Hottinger, board member of Edmond de Rothschild private bank since 1970, has died, the Genevan firm said in a statement on Thursday.

Hottinger was also managing partner of J.F.E Hottinger & Cie, a brokerage firm he founded in Zurich. The banker was a scion of the well-known Zurich-based banking family.

He began his career at Banque Hottinger & Cie in Paris before becoming a general partner at the parent bank in Zurich in 1969. He founded J.F.E Hottinger in 1992 after leaving the family bank.
