BNP Paribas appoints new head of Securities Services Switzerland
BNP Paribas has appointed Marco Citrini as Head of Securities Services Switzerland. He succeeds Garrick Dean Smith, who will in future expand relationships with key institutional clients as Managing Director Client Coverage Securities Services Switzerland, according to a statement on Friday.
Citrini has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry. Before joining BNP Paribas, he held various leadership positions at American Express, Bank Leu and ABN AMRO. He has been with BNP Paribas since 2001, where he helped build Securities Services Switzerland as the second permanent employee. Most recently, he was responsible for the Client Line for Financial Intermediaries & Corporates and served as deputy head of the Swiss branch.
Strengthening the position in Switzerland
The appointment is part of long-term succession planning. Citrini is expected to further strengthen BNP Paribas' position as a leading provider of custody and fund services in Switzerland. Worldwide, the business line manages assets worth $17.5 trillion (Assets under Custody), making it one of the largest Global Custodians.
Thorsten Gommel, Head of Securities Services for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries, described Citrini's expertise and leadership experience as key prerequisites for driving growth in Switzerland and strengthening the local and international presence.
Enna Pariset, CEO and Head of Territory of the BNP Paribas Group in Switzerland, also emphasized the importance of the appointment. The company wants to continue expanding its position in the Swiss market.
