Pimco’s head of Switzerland has left the U.S. fund manager earlier this year, according to information obtained by finews.com. He has accepted a similar job at a rival company.

Last summer, Juerg Rimle, then head of Switzerland at Pimco, in an interview with finews.com spoke at length about the success of Pimco in growing its business in the country.

Pimco increased assets under management more than tenfold since opening its office in Switzerland in 2009, reaching more than 35 billion Swiss francs ($34.9 billion). The sales force was steadily broadened over the years to deal with the growth.

Fidelity International

Now, Rimle has gone and the U.S. asset manager has lost the manager who led the business since 2014. Pimco confirmed that Rimle had departed in mid-January.

Instead, Rimle has joined Fidelity International as head of Switzerland, finews.com can reveal. He will start in his new role in May. Rimle replaces Martin Lasance, who had been in charge of the Swiss market for Fidelity International since 2016. Lansance will leave the firm after handing over to Rimle.

Candidate Evaluation Process

Pimco is currently looking for a replacement for Rimle and will consider both candidates who are already working for the company and those who are not.
