A key Credit Suisse technology banker is defecting to UBS, finews.com has learned.

UBS is poaching Jason Shane from Credit Suisse as its new head of compliance, regulatory, and governance as well as internal audit technology, according to a memo seen by finews.com. A spokesman for UBS confirmed the hire.

Shane has been in Credit Suisse's IT arm for nearly ten years, most recently as information chief for corporate services technology and for a strategic resolution unit. At UBS, he will report to Julie Shapiro, the Swiss bank's head of risk and finance technology.

Shane, who will continue to be based in London,  will focus on modernizing UBS' platforms for efficiency, stability, and regulatory compliance requirements, Shapiro said. Prior to Credit Suisse, he worked for Merrill Lynch.
