A specialist in independent wealth management has left UBS after a quarter of a century and joined Pictet in Zurich, according to information obtained by finews.com.

Alain Gallati began his career in banking in 1994 at one of the predecessor banks of UBS and has remained faithful to his employer ever since. Now though he decided to leave UBS and to join Pictet. A spokesperson at the Geneva-based private bank confirmed that he will start at the bank in June.

Gallati will take charge of the private custody business in Zurich within Pictet’s asset services. It is a unit that serves external asset managers. The role is similar to the one Gallati held at UBS since 2015. There, he was market head financial intermediaries for the German-speaking part of Switzerland, a role within the wealth management division of Switzerland’s largest bank.

At Pictet, Gallati will be based in Zurich. His hiring confirms the strategy of the private bank to further develop the external asset manager’s business and to hire the experts it needs for this purpose.
